You are invited to give testimony at the combined legislative hearing on HB 1210, the Ban the Box bill, and HB 5723, the Sealing bill.

The Ban The Box bill would eliminate the box on employment applications that requires applicants to indicate whether they have a criminal record. The Sealing bill would expand the types of conviction records that can be sealed from access by the general public, thus including prospective employers. Both are considered essential in eliminating unfair discrimination against ex-prisoners who are seeking lawful employment in the State of Illinois.

The combined hearing will take place on Thursday, Aug. 23, in the Hearing Room of the Bilandic Bldg., 160 N. LaSalle, Chicago, beginning at 9:30am.

It is requested that all witnesses be prepared to submit 25 written copies of their testimony for the panel, and that verbal testimony be limited to 5-7 minutes to allow time for questions from the panel. If you need more time, or if you have questions or concerns, please contact
