The Chicago Torture Justice Memorials (CTJM) project (http://chicagotorture.org/) is in residency at Mess Hall (www.messhall.org) from July 14-July 24.
The Chicago Torture Justice Memorials (CTJM) project invites artists and all those who seek justice to submit proposals by Dec. 10 for a speculative monument to memorialize the Chicago Police torture cases that occurred in South and Southwest Chicago under Police Commander Jon Burge between 1972 to 1991.
We intend these memorial projects to serve as a public reckoning with police torture in Chicago and to honor all those who fought to stop it. We understand every submission to be an act of solidarity with the torture survivors and welcome proposals that exhibit radical imagination.  For more information on the project and to view the open call see: http://chicagotorture.org/.
Please join us at one or all of these events at Mess Hall to find out more about this project, the police torture cases that inform it, the open call, and how you can participate!
