The Chicago Bar Foundation has joined with the Uptown People’s Law Center in noting with sadness the sudden passing of Belinda Belcher, who served the UPLC for 22 years.

She started with the UPLC as a high-school intern, became its Executive Director in 1992 and served with distinction until her untimely death.

She was noted for her devotion and commitment to her work, fighting for the rights of prisoners and other marginalized people in society.
